NCAR Meets Cheyenne at Frontier Days

CHEYENNE – Tomorrow, July 24, 2007 employees and their families from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) will be in Cheyenne to enjoy the Daddy of ‘Em All while they meet the community. Qwest Corporation and Cheyenne LEADS started the “NCAR Meets the Cheyenne Community” event by partnering to bring over 20 NCAR employees to Cheyenne.

Working together, LEADS and Qwest have made the occasion into a day long event to help employees and their families from NCAR become acquainted with Cheyenne. LEADS and Qwest have worked with a number of private and public organizations to make the day packed with events where NCAR is introduced to Laramie County.

The day will start off with the NCAR employees watching the CFD Parade from the American National Bank building. American National Bank has been gracious enough to offer up their space and hospitality for this part of the day. After the parade, at 11:30 a.m. there will be a “meet the community” luncheon at the Cheyenne-Kiwanis Community House, co-sponsored by the City of Cheyenne and Laramie County Community College. This will give the NCAR employees the ability to mingle and talk with community members throughout Laramie County, including representatives from the City of Cheyenne, Laramie County Community College, the Wyoming Business Council, and LEADS, just to name a few.

After the community gets to greet NCAR, the employees will attend the rodeo as Qwest’s, Bank of the West’s and the Wyoming Business Council’s guests. This part of the day will give the employees of NCAR a chance to relax and enjoy some rodeo action from the best seats in the arena. Once the rodeo is over, Governor Freudenthal has invited NCAR to be his guests at the CFD sponsorship event at his residence where they will get to meet the Thunderbirds.

The sponsorship event at the Governor’s mansion will close out the busy day of events for NCAR staff and families. LEADS hopes that this event will help welcome this new company and its employees to Cheyenne prior to the construction of their newest facility here. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the strong community support of all the organizations involved, a big thank you goes out to all of them with a special thanks to Qwest.

Cheyenne LEADS is a member-supported private non-profit corporation devoted to bringing jobs and economic opportunity to Laramie County. LEADS serves as the Economic Development entity for the City of Cheyenne and for Laramie County, Wyoming.
