Cheyenne LEADS Applauds Governor Gordon’s “Data Centers the Wyoming Way” Executive Order

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (June 3, 2026) — Cheyenne LEADS today expressed its support for Governor Mark Gordon’s Executive Order, Data Centers the Wyoming Way, which establishes a framework for responsible data center development while protecting Wyoming’s natural resources, communities, and quality of life.

As Wyoming continues to attract attention as a premier destination for data center investment, the Executive Order provides clear guidance that aligns economic opportunity with Wyoming’s longstanding values of stewardship, transparency, local engagement, and responsible growth.

Governor Gordon’s Executive Order reinforces what we have long believed, that Wyoming can lead the nation in attracting transformative industries while remaining true to the values that make our state exceptional,” said Betsey Hale, CEO of Cheyenne LEADS. “This framework sends a strong message that Wyoming welcomes investment, innovation, and job creation, while ensuring development occurs in a way that benefits local communities, respects our natural resources, and strengthens our economy for future generations.

The Executive Order recognizes Wyoming’s competitive advantages, including its abundant energy resources and reliable infrastructure.  It also emphasizes the importance of workforce development, community investment, public engagement, and responsible resource management as large-scale projects are evaluated and advanced.

Cheyenne LEADS believes the Governor’s framework provides additional certainty for businesses considering Wyoming while ensuring that residents remain at the center of future growth opportunities.

Data centers represent significant opportunities for economic diversification, high-paying careers, expanded tax revenues, and continued energy development,” Hale said. “Governor Gordon’s leadership helps ensure Wyoming remains competitive for these investments while preserving the qualities that make our communities strong.

Cheyenne LEADS looks forward to working with state leaders, local governments, educational institutions, utility partners, and private industry to advance responsible economic development opportunities that create lasting benefits for Wyoming residents.
