Searing Industries was started in 1985 by seven gentlemen who had a long history in the welded tube industry. Richard Searing ran one of the first tube mills back in 1948. He and his sons, Lee and Jim Searing, along with five other instrumental people began operating the new company in Los Angeles with just two old tube mills, no employees and no financing.
Over the years the company grew and continued to expand its business into eleven western states. Richard Searing died 17 years ago. This left his two sons Lee and Jim to run the business. In 2011, the company made the decision to expand its
business from the California market into the mid-west, as well as expand its size range. This allowed the company to service its existing as well as potentially new customers. Richard Searing, Lee’s son did most of the research and it was decided to
purchase 30 acres in Cheyenne and purchase a state of the art slitting machine and tube mill, expanding Searing’s production range from 6×6 square to 10×10 square and round sizes from 6” round to 12” round.
Today after just one year since ground breaking the building is done and the mill is running, and houses some of Searing’s best employees who relocated to Wyoming. Searing has also hired new employees from the Wyoming area and look forward to the potential this new operation offers to the company.
