Local Data Center to Break Ground on Expansion
CHEYENNE, Wyoming (August 21, 2013) – Green House Data, a cloud hosting and colocation data center service provider, in partnership with 1547 Critical Systems Realty, is breaking ground on an expansion at its Cheyenne facility next week. Green House Data located in the Cheyenne Business Parkway in 2007 with a 10,000 sq ft. facility and since that time has continued to see success. The new 35,000 sq ft. 5 megawatt (MW) concurrently maintainable facility is designed to house wholesale, retail and cloud colocation services for high-power-density customers. It will join the existing facility to form the core of a planned multi-building data center campus and is expected to add 25 more jobs to the local economy.
The first 5000 sq ft. phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2014. The facility will have 100 gigabit per second (Gbps) network capacity with redundancy across four network carriers and low-latency connectivity to major data center hubs in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas.
Green House Data is SSAE 16 Type II compliant and uses at least 40% less energy on average than its competitors. In addition, Green House Data powers its infrastructure with 100% renewable energy, including wind and solar, and its facilities take advantage of Wyoming’s cool and dry climate for outside-air cooling year round. The energy efficiency savings realized are passed down to customers.
Green House Data’s three nationwide locations, Oregon, New Jersey, and Cheyenne, have sustainability integrated into their design, and are working to improve data center efficiency by up to 75%. Currently, Cheyenne data center clients save 64.5% in energy costs compared to the average data centers.
This new Cheyenne data center will provide an excellent solution for organizations from either coast that need to incorporate safe locations into their disaster recovery and business continuity planning. With the expansion, Green House Data will be able to offer the business community across the central regions a secure, efficient, state-of-the-art colocation data center that combines a unique climate with strategic access to the key hubs in the United States.
“Having the ability to expand our flagship facility in Cheyenne is very exciting and creates a unique opportunity for national and international companies looking for a colocation or disaster recovery partner,” says Shawn Mills, CEO and Founder of Green House Data. To date, Green House Data has clients in twenty-six states and in four countries.
This year, Green House Data received a $2.25 million Wyoming Business Council Managed Data Center Cost Reduction Grant. This grant will assist with the expansion focusing on the reduction of utility costs for electricity and broadband while the business continues to grow.
“With the continued growth of Green House Data and other data centers in the community, we have also seen growth in connectivity capabilities in the Cheyenne area,” states Randy Bruns, CEO of local economic development entity, Cheyenne LEADS. “Having major data carriers in the region helps improve connectivity for everyone and ensures there is infrastructure to continue to grow the technology industry. This is an exciting time for our community.”
The groundbreaking ceremony is open to the public and will take place just north of the current Green House Data facility located at 304 Progress Circle in the Cheyenne Business Parkway at 10:00 a.m. on August 27, 2013.
