Cheyenne, WY (May 3, 2022) Cheyenne LEADS will mark May 9 to May 13, 2022, as National Economic Development Week. During this week, communities across North America celebrate and recognize the contributions made by professional economic developers to create more economically diverse communities.
Created in 2016 by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the largest international professional trade association for economic developers, Economic Development Week aims to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.
As the economic development organization for Cheyenne and Laramie County, Cheyenne LEADS will use the week to recognize and educate the community on the importance of economic development throughout the state of Wyoming.
On May 10, Cheyenne LEADS will host a free webinar. During the webinar Jared Walczak, the Vice President of State Projects for the Tax Foundation in Washington DC, will be presenting his study Evaluating Wyoming’s Business Tax Competitiveness. Walczak will report how Wyoming compares to other states as it pertains to taxes and business attraction. “This information is important for anyone involved in economic development or economic development policy in Wyoming,” says Betsey Hale, CEcD – CEO of Cheyenne LEADS.
