Randy Bruns – Chief Executive Officer
Randy Bruns is CEO of Cheyenne LEADS, the Cheyenne-Laramie County Corporation for Economic Development. He was named president and chief operating officer of LEADS by the organization’s board of directors in February 2002 filling the vacancy left by the retirement of long-time LEADS President Jack Crews. Bruns started with Cheyenne LEADS in May 1999 after working at Unicover World Trade Corporation for more than 11 years.
Bruns has lived and worked in Lincoln, NE; Puerto Rico; Germany and Chappell, NE before coming to Cheyenne in 1987 to work for Unicover World Trade Corporation.
Bruns is a Past Chairman for the Board of the Wyoming Economic Development Association, has served as the Vice Chair of the Rocky Mountain District Export Council based in Denver, served on the Laramie County Comprehensive Land Use Plan Steering Committee, is a graduate of Leadership Cheyenne and Leadership Wyoming, and is Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.
Bruns was named “Business Person of the Year” by the Cheyenne Board of Realtors in 2006 and received the Governor’s Bravo! Award for Economic Development in 2007.
Bruns and his wife Donna have three daughters, a son, and two grandchildren. Bruns’ hobbies include writing, hunting, fishing and flying.

Anja Bendel – Director, Business Development
Anja Bendel has been working in economic development since 2008. She joined Cheyenne LEADS in November 2011 as the Director of Business Development. Prior to coming to LEADS, Anja was the Executive Director of the High Plains Economic Development District.
Anja holds a BA in German from Colorado State University and a dual Master’s degree in Business Administration and German Language and Literature from the University of Colorado. In 2000 through 2003 Anja lived and worked in Frankfurt, Germany where she developed a deeper understanding of the German language and culture.
Anja is the President of the Wyoming Economic Development Association (WEDA) and is also a part of the WEDA Legislative Committee. Anja is a graduate of both Leadership Platte County and Leadership Wyoming (Class of 2013).

Derrek Jerred – Business Development Specialist
A native of Gillette, Wyoming, Derrek comes to LEADS after graduating from the University of Wyoming where he received a degree in Business Administration. While attending the University of Wyoming, Derrek had the opportunity to work for the College of Business as a Student Ambassador, allowing him to interact with a broad range of clients from across the country.
Derrek had the opportunity to intern with well known coal mining company, Cloud Peak Energy. While with Cloud Peak, Derrek was involved heavily with human resources and employee retention.
Outside of work, Derrek has been reffing hockey for seven years and loves to travel and play golf.
Derrek looks forward to having the opportunity to be involved in economic development in his home state.

Rachelle Zimmerman – Director of Marketing and Communications
Rachelle is the Director of Marketing and Communications for Cheyenne LEADS. After graduating from the University of Wyoming Rachelle lived in Central California, Colorado Springs and Denver, working in several positions, including Senior Executive for Macy’s. Prior to coming to LEADS, Rachelle was the Marketing Director for the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
Presently, Rachelle is on the Board of Directors for the Laramie County Library Foundation and United Way of Laramie County, serving as the Marketing Chairperson. She also volunteers for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Indian Committee, receiving Volunteer of the Year in 2013. Rachelle was named an Honorary Commander at FE Warren AFB in 2014-2015.
Rachelle received the Silver and Bronze Congressional Awards, and served as Miss Frontier, promoting Cheyenne and Cheyenne Frontier Days.
She enjoys spending time with her children and husband, Steve.
