CHEYENNE — Children’s Health Magazine has announced its list of the top 100 best places in America to raise a family. Cheyenne was ranked number 8, just after Honolulu and ahead of Omaha. The best place to raise children, according to the magazine, was Burlington, Vt.

The magazine conducted a statistical analysis of cities, researching more than 30 factors that parents consider to be vitally important including crime and safety, education, economics, housing, cultural attractions and health. The editors compiled statistics from sources including the Centers for Disease Control, FBI, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and a wide variety of independent experts.

Unfortunately, the magazine did not list what those factors were, how each city stacked up to the others, or even what the cutoff in population was for the designation of “city.” The worst place to raise children, according to the magazine, is Detroit.
